As I mentioned earlier, there is another aspect of WoW that also lends itself to competition: player-versus-player (or, "PVP") combat.  This type of combat is comparable to many other eSports games due to the fact that it's played against non-computer players.

In competitive play, one must still form a team that becomes the sort of tight-knit group as a raid team. While PVP teams tend to be smaller in size, they still require strong coordination and knowledge of the enemy.

The video to the right is from the 2013 Blizzcon Arena Global Invitational Grand Finals and shows the final matches between two separate teams, each with three players.  While the matches themselves may be hard to follow, what's worth noticing is the reaction this team has to the win.

Note: the above video intentionally starts at 44:30 - shortly before the team wins the competition and exhibits a very real, human response.

Immediately upon landing the final blow against the losing team, two of the players leap from their seats, shout in celebration, and hug each other out of excitement.  These are players who have spent hours behind their screens, separated from each other and yet that doesn't stop them from eliciting a very human reaction to their win.

They are players; they are a team; they are friends.
