Of course, not all gamers are interested in eSports.  From the same sample of players as the previous page came numerous responses that indicated little or no interest in even watching eSports.  This is, of course, not entirely surprising.  When it comes to any activity, there is never a complete overlap between those that enjoy watching and those that enjoy doing.  Frequent among the responses, however, was a strong desire to play instead of simply watch.

"I don't think I'll really enjoy watching Heroes of the Storm tournaments when it gets to that stage, just because I don't really enjoy watching other MOBA esports. I feel that it's very hard to understand what's going on when you can't see the abilities and talents players are using.  But I love watching Starcraft. It's fast paced, exciting, and really cool to see the strategies that the pro players employ. It's also just awe inspiring how well they play. The only thing I dislike about it is that if one person is having an off-day, they're screwed, because it's not a team sport. In that vein, I watched the only two Canadian players at Blizzcon get their asses handed to them, even though I'd seen them both play wonderfully in the past. Oh well, really, but it's really interesting to follow the careers of some of the bigger players and watch their ups and downs. I've even had friends over to watch the finals of some of the tournaments, it's a jolly good time."

"I totally don't understand the appeal to watching other people gaming, be it esports, streaming, or whatever. I might occasionally watch a quick clip to give me an idea of how to approach something, but I find overall watching someone else play a game is just boring when I could be playing myself!"

"Nope!  I'd rather play the game than watch someone else play.  I've watched boss vids like Fatboss to get some insight on how a raid boss works but watching PvP matches is just not my thing."

"I treat eSports like any other sports. Occasionally I'll watch the championship. But that's it."

"Not for me, I just don't see the attraction. It seems like watching someone else watch a film - why would I do that when I could just watch it myself?"
